Grant Proposals

This past Wednesday, eight groups of Poly Global Scholars had the opportunity to share projects that they had been working on since the start of the year with a board of judges. While aiming both to obtain an amount of financial support and learn about the process of creating a grant proposal, groups had to rigorously map out their projects, detailing very specifically where money was to be allocated and for what reason. It was inspiring to see my classmates carry out such serious and meaningful work.

Each group had a very unique and meaningful cause. Where the first group focused on education people about economics, the second focused on supplying computers to refugees. Other groups oriented their work towards helping to create opportunities for the Manara Center, Narrative 4 programs, Self Help Graphics, Lighthouse Peace Initiative, CIELO, and the Lily Project. One group that really stuck out to me was the Lily Project. The Lily Project group was notable to me because I found that their work combined the creative realm with real world issues in a way that directly impacts the lives of young women in Nicaragua.
That being said, I was impressed with all of the presentations and all of my peers' professionalism. It was really fun to see all of my classmates work come to fruition, regardless of whether or not the judges decided to grant them the prize money. Between learning a lot about different organizations and seeing my friends do such a great job in the spotlight, I had a great time watching the grant proposals.
